The Federation Windmill Rotunda was built in 2001 to commemorate the Centenary of Australia’s Federation. The Windmill Rotunda, as it is more commonly known by locals, is constructed of 20-foot windmills brought in from a nearby property. Doug Brown of “Bogunda” (south of Prairie) donated the Comet windmills for this project . These windmills, which were built in 1912, were originally used to pump water for livestock. Original bush furniture can be found beneath the curved roof, and all artwork was created by local artists. Under the windmill, there are interpretive signs that explain how the windmill was used.
